Overview
Join us on an immersive tour that celebrates the wonders of sacred plants, tea, and spices in India. This is a 16 day fixed departure tour starting from the 26th of Januray 2026. This journey will take you to diverse landscapes, from lush green plantations and paddy fields, fragrant spice markets, colourful flower markets and an ancient culture which is still very evident in everyday life.
We will travel through Mughal and Colonial gardens, spice plantations, staying amidst tea and coffee estates and a horticulture conservation garden. You will experience the local cuisine and the mixing of Masalas, the healing powers of Ayurveda and plant-based medicine. You will learn more about the culture and local way of life. Most experiences that are included are away from the known tourist areas and specially curated for the tour. Rest assured, that you will get to experience the real India!

Day 1 25 January 2026 Sunday UK-Bangalore
Fly from the UK for Bangalore. (Flights are not included in the costs. Help with booking flights can be provided).
Day 2 26 January 2026 Monday Bangalore
Arrive Bangalore late morning. You will be met and transferred to your hotel. Stay at The Paul for 2 nights. Remainder of the day at your leisure. For those interested an orientation tour of the city can be arranged.
Day 3 27 January 2026 Tuesday Bangalore
Visit the Lalbagh Garden where you will spend the day exploring this iconic garden. Your visit will coincide with the famous Lalbagh Flower Show. One of the best times to visit the garden. There will be cultural shows, workshops and other activities organised by the show.
Afternoon embark on a heritage walk through the city's historic quarters. Bangalore is called the Garden City and even though the city has now expanded and developed into a sprawling metropolis, there are still places where you can experience the Bangalore of the past. Start your journey at the beautiful Cubbon Park, a green haven that serves as the lungs of the city. You then visit flower markets, a temple, ancient monuments and also experience the traditional cuisine in some of the restaurants in town.
Day 4 28 January 2026 Wednesday Bangalore – Mysore
Morning drive to Mysore visiting the Silk Cocoon market and the Sula Vineyard en route.
On arrival check-into your hotel in Mysore. Stay at the Grand Mercure/Southern Star for 3 nights. Both are comfortable modern hotels that offer a choice of dining and a pool.
Day 5 29 January 2026 Thursday Mysore
Mysore is famous for its silk industry and from the days of the Maharajas. The day will be a complete study of silk. Starting with a drive to a village on the outskirts where silk farming is still practiced using traditional methods. You will be shown the process right from the hatching of the worms to the production of the fabric. You will also visit the Government silk factory in the afternoon to see how it is commercially produced.
The intricately carved Hoysala temple at Somnathpur is well worth a visit. This temple, dedicated to Lord Keshava, is renowned for its star-shaped base, intricate carvings and detailed sculptures that narrate stories from Hindu mythology.
Day 6 30 January 2026 Friday Mysore
An early morning visit to the farmers’ market where local farmers sell their produce directly to the public. It’s a great place to see the fruits and vegetables that are grown in the area. Later: enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Mysore city including Srirangapatanam, Ranganathittoo Bird Sanctuary and the City Palace. Evening enjoy a visit to the Devaraja fruit and vegetable market, one of the many colourful, vibrant markets.
Day 7 31 January 2026 Saturday Mysore – Wayanad
Morning drive to the plantations of Wayanad. Stay at After the Rains for 2 nights. This is a property set in a plantation in the Western Ghat mountain ranges of the Nilgiri Biosphere in Wayanad. The property has 10 rooms surrounded by 16 acres of plantations that predominantly cultivate coffee and pepper. They also produce spices, fruits and vegetables. The property has great views of the Western Ghats and is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. They offer a plantation walk for those interested. If you would like to explore further then you could walk to the village and interact with local people to learn more about their way of life.
Day 8 1 February 2026 Sunday Wayanad
Morning: go for a plantation walk where you will see how various spices are grown, harvested and processed. The property also produces organic coffee.
Afternoon: visit Uravu, a not-for-profit bamboo based developmental organisation that strives for rural empowerment through sustainable solutions. Established in 1996, Uravu works with people, government and businesses to facilitate initiatives with the prime motives of sustainable development and to implement focused end-to-end programs in the bamboo sector. A hands-on workshop will be arranged where you will have the opportunity to learn and experience more about the way they work.
Day 9 2 February 2026 Monday Wayanad -Ooty/Coonoor
Morning: drive up the hills to Ooty. Situated in the Nilgiri Hills, Ooty is famous for its picturesque landscapes, tea gardens and colonial architecture. Stay at the Willow Hill for 2 nights.
Day 10 3 February 2026 Wednesday Coonoor
Day to explore Coonoor and surrounding area. You will visit a tea plantation and factory to learn about the history of tea and the process from plant to product. You will also visit Sim’s Park, a beautiful botanical garden established in 1874, spread over 29 acres and home to a wide variety of plant species, including exotic trees and vibrant flower beds.
Day 11 4 February 2026 Wednesday Coonoor-Mettupalayam-Coimbatore
Morning at leisure in Coonoor. Optional: plantation walk in the morning or explore the markets in town. Later transfer to Coonoor railway station to board the famed Blue Mountain steam train to journey down the hills to Mettupalayam. On arrival, transfer by road to Coimbatore. Stay at the Residency Towers for the night.
Day 12 5 February 2026 Thursday Coimbatore – Cheruthurithy
Drive to Cheruthurithy in the morning. On arrival check in to the Resort at Hortus Malabaricus for 2 nights. This 27-acre garden draws inspiration from the 17th-century Hortus Malabaricus, the monumental botanical work by Dutch commander Hendrik van Rheede. Dedicated to the conservation and study of Kerala’s native medicinal plants and the endemic flora of the Western Ghats, the garden features over 1,200 species, including 742 documented in van Rheede’s treatise.
Day 13 6 February 2026 Friday Cheruthurithy
Day at leisure to explore the garden with their resident horticulturalists.
Day 14 7 February 2026 Saturday Cheruthurithy- Cochin
Drive to the port city of Cochin visiting a traditional Ayurveda unit where you will learn more about how plant extracts are used to making medicines. On arrival in Cochin check-into the Fragrant Nature Hotel for 2 nights.
Remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 15 8 February 2026 Sunday Cochin
Morning enjoy a tour of Fort Cochin and Mattencherry on tuk-tuks. You will get to travel through the narrow byways of Mattencherry which used to be dotted with spice godowns (warehouse) at one time. There are still a few remaining and you will get to see one. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 16 9 February 2026 Monday Cochin – UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

The tour is based on 2 people sharing a room. It is not mandatory to pay a single room supplement if you are happy to share a room with another person of the same sex. A single room supplement is required to be paid only if we do not have another person you can share with or if you wish to stay in room on single occupancy.

Internal Travel :
Comfortable mini-bus that will remain at disposal for the entire tour. For some of the local tours smaller vehicles and tuk-tuks will be used to enhance the experience and ease of access to some of the sights.
Tour will be fully escorted and guaranteed to operate for a minimum of 6 persons. You will have a UK tour leader who will accompany the group for the full tour and experienced local guides/specialists while in India.
